Degrees Are Not Always An Indication Of Talent

What the technology industry icon, Vinod Khosla, says in this video interview¬†recorded after his appearance at the TechCrunch Disrupt SF conference¬†resonates with how I feel too. He says in this interview that if he sees a high school dropout who has done a lot, it tells him that that person is way better than a highly degreed person (he uses a Stanford Ph.D. as the example) because he’s driven much further to get there. He does not focus much on educational credentials when hiring. I believe (I hope) that this is a trend that will pick up steam as people realize that college degrees and certifications aren’t always a great barometer of talent. Check out the video. This is great wisdom from a smart man.
