Degrees Are Not Always An Indication Of Talent

What the technology industry icon, Vinod Khosla, says in this video interview recorded after his appearance at the TechCrunch Disrupt SF conference resonates with how I feel too. He says in this interview that if he sees a high school dropout who has done a lot, it tells him that that person is way better than a highly degreed person (he uses a Stanford Ph.D. as the example) because he’s driven much further to get there. He does not focus much on educational credentials when hiring. I believe (I hope) that this is a trend that will pick up steam as people realize that college degrees and certifications aren’t always a great barometer of talent. Check out the video. This is great wisdom from a smart man.
